The Mining Impact Coalition of Wisconsin - Penokee Hills Education Project
The Mining Impact Coalition of Wisconsin, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization. Our mission is public education, networking, and grassroots organizing on the environmental, health, social, and economic issues of mining that disproportionately affect Native and rural populations. The Penokee Hills Education Project is an education and outreach project of the Mining Impact Coalition and is focused on issues related to the proposed development of iron mining in northern Wisconsin.

Frank Koehn -President
Frank Koehn is a retired high school teacher and served twelve years on the Bayfield County Board of Supervisors. He currently resides in Ashland, WI.
Pete Rasmussen- Vice President
Pete Rasmussen is professional photographer and resident of the Marengo area.
Bill Heart- Treasurer, Secretary
Bill Heart is a retired small business owner and is former state Chairman of Trout Unlimited (WI). He continues to serve on the Great Lakes Committee of the National Leadership Council of Trout Unlimited.
Bill Ahrens
Bill Ahrens is a retired teacher from Pearson, WI and has served on the MIC Board since 1998. He was a volunteer with the Wolf Watershed Educational Project (WWEP, 1993-2003) and Midwest Treaty Network working on both treaty rights and mining issues.
Dave Blouin
Dave Blouin from Madison co-founded MIC in 1993 and volunteered with the WWEP from 1993-2003. He is a Sierra Club activist and currently chairs the mining and political committees for the John Muir Chapter (WI) of the Sierra Club.
Mike Wiggins Jr.
Mike Wiggins Jr. is the Tribal Chairman of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe.
